Kaleidoscope: Danielle Steel

Filed under: Book Reviews — admin @ 12:59 am

I read this book when I was in my high school days. I didn’t know why I read this because my friends and I were going along with reading romantic and love stories. It was summer vacation when I read it and it only took me three weeks to finish it. With ins and outs of the house. This is a very inspiring book because I can feel what was the feeling of the characters especially the character of Hilary who went to juvenile after they were separated and gone through difficult times because of that. It was a traumatic, mysterious events in their lives that is why every page is worth reading and you couldn’t miss every chapters. After reading this book, I feel like I am lucky because I have my sisters and brothers with me even though I have lost my mother already. I am yearning for love to these three sisters and I really hope that this stories doesn’t happen in real lives because I don’t know how will they survive if they do. She became my favorite author from then on because I think the writings and characters that she makes, makes real sense.

The Knitting Circle by Ann Hood

Filed under: Book Reviews — admin @ 2:13 pm

The Knitting Circle by Ann Hood is a beautiful book about a painful subject, the loss of a child. Mary Baxter and her husband, Dylan, are shell shocked after their only daughter, 5 year old Stella, dies suddenly and unexpectedly from bacterial meningitis. In the months of mourning and grief that follow, Mary’s relationships are faltering; she stops going to work, struggles to communicate with her husband, and can barely speak to her mother. This is the story of how Mary learns to live again.

At the urging of her mother, Mary joins a knitting circle. She finds knitting therapeutic and distracting, just what she needs. She begins to learn more about the other people in the circle and all the reasons they are there, reasons that include suffering, tragedy, and loss.

But I don’t want you to think this is a story to avoid because it’s too sad. It IS sad, but it’s also inspiring, and shows the restorative power of friendship and reaching out to others.. how sharing our pain can lighten the load. It is a heartfelt story of hope that I read in 2 sittings, stopping only to sleep and eat.

Hood, who lost her own daughter to a virulent strain of strep (also at age 5), writes from heartbreaking personal experience. The novel rings so true, and I ached for Mary (and also for Ms. Hood) as she went from the depths of her grief to the beginnings of healing. In the last chapter of the book, Mary final reveals her own story. This book is wonderful and I highly recommend it.

Transactional Analysis Book

Filed under: Highly Recommended Books — admin @ 12:39 am

I am a Bachelor of Science in Psychology Graduate and I remember this book that my professor told us to read and have a book review, analysis and comment on it. I was in my last year then and it was a totally amazing experience because the book really helped me graduate, thanks to it and fortunately helped me with my soul within. The book is from Dr. Thomas Anthony Harris and it was called I’m Ok You’re Ok. Sounds crazy? Nah! I think it sounds just fine and will really makes you think what is inside and makes you want to read it over and over again. It is a Transactional Analysis of Self and includes lots of situations where you will dealt with four life positions that we may take.

  1. I’m Not OK, You’re OK
  2. I’m Not OK, You’re Not OK
  3. I’m OK, You’re Not OK
  4. I’m OK, You’re OK

Filed under: Book Reviews — admin @ 7:11 am

I just love reading books and so I thought that I maybe helping others, same as me who likes to read and review books from all kinds of genre. I think it takes a good book to create a critique so I read and share and review every genre of books. I am not those people who choose to read. Because I think all the books deserves to be read and be judge afterwards. I started this reading thing when I started traveling from different places. It has been five years and I think I have read more than 30 of them. I will sure share them with you, the past, present, and future books to look forward to. Happy reading!
